Investigators with the child predator section of the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office recently charged three men with various child pornography offenses. The charges came following an undercover investigation by authorities from the office.

Those charged include a 44-year-old man from Lower Paxton Township, a 34-year-old man from Philadelphia and a 25-year-old man from Allentown. The 44-year-old man is facing 14 charges, including four for distribution, nine for possession and one for criminal communication. The 34-year-old was charged with 20 separate counts of possession of child pornography, one of distribution and one of criminal communication. The 25-year-old man was charged with five counts of distribution, 20 counts of possession and one of criminal communication.

The Philadelphia man was released on bail in the amount of $25,000. The Lower Paxton Township man is in custody in lieu of $100,000, and the Allentown man is in custody in lieu of $50,000. Authorities stated that their investigation into people distributing child porn files over the Internet led to the charges of the three men.

People may face state and federal charges when they are alleged to have possessed or distributed child pornography. If they are convicted, they may spend years in prison and have to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives. People who are facing such serious charges may need to get help from a criminal defense attorney. A lawyer may be able to spot potential problems with the prosecution’s case. In cases involving the distribution of child pornography, a lawyer might analyze who else may have had access to the computers. In some cases, a lawyer may be able to challenge the identification of his or her client as the person distributing and possessing the porn.
